At the price it is at now for 500gb, it is even more of a steal! Used one to backup my whole imac osx partition and windows bootcamp too. It is insanely fast and totally what they state!! I have read so many reviews complaining about speeds they have recorded, but I will guarantee that they are not using through the necessary port!! PLEASE check what usb/thunderbolt port you are going to be using and that it can carry that bandwidth. The size is a shock on arrival, as it is much smaller than I imagined, but means you could have these discreetly backing up areas around the house. I am committing to buying some more while at this price. Completely wipes the floor with Samsung and other drives at similar price! After backing up whole imac of around 460gb, mine was barley warm, so if everything is running correctly on computer side, I would only be alramed if it does indeed get hot. One of my top five purchases of the year!
